Concrete Wall Sawing Service

What Is Concrete Wall Sawing?

Track-mounted precision cutting for vertical and angled concrete surfaces

Precision Openings in Any Concrete Wall

Concrete wall sawing uses a track-mounted diamond blade saw that rides on a steel rail system anchored directly to the wall surface. Unlike flat sawing which works on horizontal surfaces, wall sawing is designed specifically for vertical, angled and overhead concrete cutting — anywhere a walk-behind saw cannot reach.

The track system gives wall sawing its defining advantage: the blade follows the rail with absolute precision, producing a perfectly straight, clean cut every time regardless of wall thickness. Our wall saws can cut up to 24 inches deep in a single pass — handling virtually any concrete wall you'll encounter on a commercial or residential job site.

Wall sawing is the standard method for creating new door and window openings, HVAC and mechanical penetrations, utility access panels, stairwell openings and structural modifications in existing concrete buildings. When a round hole is needed for a pipe or conduit through the wall, concrete coring is the right service. It is significantly cleaner and faster than jackhammering and produces zero random cracking in the surrounding wall.

HOW IT WORKS
1

Layout & Marking

The opening dimensions are marked precisely on the wall surface. Any post-tension cables or rebar are located before the track goes up.

2

Track Mounting

A steel track rail is anchored to the wall exactly along the cut line. The saw carriage mounts to the track and locks into position.

3

Precision Cutting

The diamond blade cuts along the track in a straight, controlled line. Each side of the opening is cut individually — typically four passes for a rectangular opening.

4

Panel Removal & Cleanup

The concrete panel is removed safely — often in sections. The cut edges are clean and straight. The site is cleaned and ready for the next trade.

Concrete Wall Sawing — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about wall sawing in Houston TX

What is the maximum depth a wall saw can cut?
Our wall saws cut up to 24 inches deep in a single pass. For walls thicker than 24 inches, we can cut from both sides to meet in the middle — achieving cuts through walls of virtually any thickness. Most commercial and residential concrete walls in Houston range from 6 to 16 inches thick, well within our standard range.
Will wall sawing crack or damage the surrounding concrete?
No. Wall sawing with a track-mounted diamond blade is one of the least destructive cutting methods available. The saw follows the rail with zero lateral movement, producing a surgically clean cut with no vibration transmitted to the surrounding wall. Jackhammering the same opening would cause random cracking throughout the wall — wall sawing does not.
Can you cut through walls that have rebar or post-tension cables?
Yes for rebar and wire mesh — diamond blades cut through steel reinforcement cleanly. Post-tension cables require special handling and we strongly recommend a GPR (ground penetrating radar) scan before cutting any post-tensioned wall. Cutting an active post-tension cable without proper precautions is extremely dangerous and can cause catastrophic structural failure. We take this seriously on every job.
How do you control water and dust during wall sawing?
Wall sawing is a wet cutting process. Water is supplied directly to the blade throughout the cut to suppress silica dust and cool the diamond segments. On interior jobs we use containment systems to capture slurry and prevent it from running across finished floors. We plan water management before every interior wall sawing job.
Do you remove and dispose of the concrete panel after cutting?
Wall sawing is a precision cutting service. Removal and disposal of the cut concrete panel is typically handled by the general contractor or demolition crew. For large or heavy panels, we can discuss coordinating a rigging or crane solution. Contact us with your specific project details and we will work with you on the best approach.
Can you cut openings in tilt-wall concrete buildings?
Yes. Tilt-wall construction is extremely common throughout the Houston industrial and commercial market and we cut openings in tilt-wall panels regularly. The track-mounted system works exceptionally well on the smooth, uniform surface of tilt panels. We are experienced with the structural considerations involved in modifying tilt-wall buildings.
How long does it take to cut a standard door opening?
A standard 3-foot by 7-foot door opening in a 6 to 8 inch concrete wall typically takes 2 to 4 hours from track setup to final cut, depending on wall thickness and rebar density. Setup and track mounting add time but ensure the cut is perfect. We give you a timeline estimate when we quote your project.
Do I need an engineer or permit before wall sawing?
For structural walls — walls that carry load — you should have an engineer review the opening before we cut. Adding an opening in a load-bearing concrete wall changes how the structure works and may require a header beam or other reinforcement. For non-structural partition walls, engineering is typically not required. Permits depend on your municipality. We recommend checking with your local building department before any structural modification.
Do you serve areas outside Houston?
Yes. We serve all of greater Houston including Katy, Sugar Land, Pearland, The Woodlands, Cypress, Humble, Baytown, Pasadena, League City and all surrounding communities. For larger commercial projects we travel further. Contact us with your location and project details.
